DESIGN A CARD
Supplies:
Construction Paper or Copy Paper – color is optional
Markers or Crayons
Directions:
Start by explaining that in today’s society we have greeting cards for just about everything and you are giving each one of them the opportunity to design a new and unique style card. Pass out the paper and markers or crayons and divide the class in groups. Have the first group design a card for some one with bad breath. Have the second group design a card that would be appropriate for a person who has problems breathing. The third group should design a card for someone who has wrinkles and dull, lifeless hair. The fourth group should design a card for someone with stained fingers and teeth. Have the fifth group design something for a dog that has allergies and breathing problems. After the groups have finished, have someone from each group read their card. You may ask as many students as time allows to read their cards. Be sure that at least one person from each group reads their card aloud. When they have finished presenting their cards explain the following: If you make the decision to smoke in your home, automobile and anywhere that is permitted, in a few years each of these cards may be sent to you. Be prepared to explain why you have made this statement. Everyone enjoys this activity and it is an excellent icebreaker activity to start a no smoking campaign or tobacco awareness campaign.
Feel free to modify each activity based on participant size
