Icebreaker

ICEBREAKER

Supplies:
Suckers of your choice with smoking information attached

Directions:
Place a bowl at the doorway where students will enter the room; stand by the suckers and encourage all students to take one.  (Make sure this is approved by the adults supervising the students).  After the students have taken their seats ask students to read the tobacco prevention slogan on their suckers.  Ask for volunteers to stand and explain the slogan on the sucker; example: Be Smoke Free – the student may respond that smoking is bad for your health.  Always give positive reinforcement to the students and if you need, expand on their statement.

This is an excellent icebreaker to set the tone for a speaker or demonstration about the effects of tobacco on the body and the environment.

Feel free to modify each activity based on participant size
